The Opportunity
A rolling, application-based apprenticeship
The Forge offers an ongoing apprenticeship for those who want to live and work directly on a six-acre permaculture sanctuary beside Kilauea Volcano. Apprentices work alongside our on-site team, learning hands-on permaculture practice, land stewardship, and the day-to-day operations of a working off-grid community.
How It Works
Applications reviewed on a rolling basis
There’s no fixed start date. Apprenticeships open as space and need allow, and applications are reviewed as they come in. Given current interest, we encourage reaching out early to start the conversation.
A Living Sanctuary
Old growth forest, a lava tube, off-grid systems
Apprentices live and work within old-growth Ohia and Hapu’u forest, minutes from a national park trailhead, on land powered by rain catchment and solar. It’s demanding, hands-on work in one of the most singular places on the island.
